MET GALA: Top 10 dresses

May 08, 2018

Hello Lago ladies! Today I want to share with you the most stunning and elegant dresses of yesterday's Met Gala. The Met Gala is one of the most important events of the season in NYC. On the first Monday in May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, host the annual fundraising gala celebrating the Costume Institute’s magnificent new exhibition on a changing theme. This year's theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”

I will start with the simple yet elegant choices of some of the guests, like this black dress worn by Karlie Kloss. I am not a big fan of simple black dresses for red carpets, but this one by Brandon Maxwell looks amazing on Karlie. And I love the back of the dress! I would pair it our Valeria pumps with crystal details to make the look more sophisticated.

This outfit by Lauren Santo Domingo is very simple and chic at the same time. I would definitely wear it with our Valentina in pastel green to give the look a little bit  of color and fun.

You can never go wrong with a white shirt and a sequins skirt. It always looks effortlessly elegant! Perfect with our Regina pumps in champagne glitter.

I absolutely love how this red dress by Carolina Herrera looks on Amber Heard! A simple silhouette and a long train perfect for this red carpet moment. I would have liked it a little bit more closed at the back, since it would have looked more elegant, but overall a great choice!

On the other side, some guest chose more elaborate designs such as this amazing dress by Christian Siriano.

What do you think of this Versace dress on Gigi? It is very different and unique.

I like everything about this outfit! The color, the puffed sleeves, her hair style.. I would pair it with our yellow Valentina pumps to give the look a feminine touch. What do you think?

And my top three choices are..!
Very feminine and elegant Hailey Baldwin with this baby blue princess-style gown. In love with the train and the color of the dress. Get inspired future brides!

Magnificent by H&M. This dress couldn't be more elegant and sexy with its revealing bardot neckline and a sophisticated deep red skirt. I would love to see this dress with our yellow Valentina, to match the inside of the skirt and the upper part of the dress.

And finally..! My top choice is this gorgeous Versace dress worn by Blake Lively. She is always the queen of red carpets! I am not a big fan of super elaborate designs, but given the theme of the gala, a little bit of "Baroque" inspiration was expected. She looked absolutely amazing! And it would have looked even better with our Aitana pumps!!

I hope you liked my selection of dresses and found some inspiration for your next big event! Let me know your comments in the section below!!

Thanks for reading the blog!

Love,

Silvia

How is the fitting of the Lagos?

We use Spanish sizing. In general the width is generous and the length is slightly longer.

Do Lago shoes enlarge with use?

Our shoes enlarge with use to adapt to your feet, but only in width, never in length. The leather is soft and does naturally crease to improve fit.

I have narrow feet

To make sure your feet stays in place you should always opt for models that hold on in the instep with a strap or shoelaces.

I have delicate feet

Our shoes are made with very soft leathers that will adapt to your feet and our lasts are quite generous. However, we recommend you to choose styles which are plain in the bunion area, without overlaps, straps, or ornaments and avoid very high heels.

I have one foot smaller

That's pretty common. Avoid pumps or shoes that do not hold on the instep. You can add a 1 or 2 mm half insole (whatever thickness you need) inside the shoe of your smaller foot until it feels right.
